SPECIAL EVENT
Photos by Alan Tromans – Rotary Club of Pershore
GALA CHARITY JAZZ NIGHT
at Number 8 High Street
Pasadena to Pershore!
Friday 17th May 2019 will long be remembered as the day the Pasadena Roof Orchestra hit town and helped raise over £3,800 for the Midlands air ambulance. The gala charity concert at Number 8, organised jointly by Pershore Jazz and Pershore Rotary clubs, was a complete sell out and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Pershore Jazz’s chairman, Graham Smith, presented a cheque to Michelle McCracken, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, at the June club event. He reminded everyone that the air ambulance receives no funding from Government or National Lottery and relies purely on financial support from us, the general public. He went on to say that he was delighted that jazz music and Rotary had combined so well to raise such a large sum from one concert. As one of many musicians travelling the country, Graham is only too aware of the service the air ambulance provides and that we, so often, take it for granted. Accepting the cheque, Michelle thanked everyone for their support, saying that the funds would buy an on-board ventilator. She went on to say that the air ambulance had attended 124 incidents in Wychavon in 2018 and at least 40 so far this year. Pershore Jazz and Rotary clubs are immensely grateful to all those that attended the gala concert and contributed to the success of the event. In addition, a number of local businesses played a vital part in that success through sponsorship of the programme, as well as providing auction and raffle items. Both clubs would like to recognise the generosity and contribution made by the following businesses; Abbey Butchers & Delicatessen; BBC Hereford & Worcester & John Hellings; Bomford & Coffey, Estate Agents; Bonkers Activities Pershore; Eckington Manor; E Hill & Son Funeral Directors; Harriett Baldwin MP; Hughes & Company Printers; Jackson Family Funeral Directors; Johnsons Property Consultants; KC Carpets Ltd; Matt Davies & Cara Scott-Hurst, Garden Consultants; Memory Lane Memorials; Midlands Air Ambulance Charity; Number 8 Community Arts Centre; O.H.M.S. Ltd; Penny Raby & Co, Family Lawyers; Silver Fern Osteopaths; Thai Legend Restaurant; Thomson & Bancks, Solicitors; Tolley Jewellers; Vale Pianos and Water Cooler World.
