Another night of brilliant music at the club! We were treated to a whole range of jazz from the twenties to the sixties, some old favourites, others not so well known. Sympathy went to usual reeds-man Mike Wills who was unwell and thought it best to stay away from a crowded place, but we were pleased to see ever popular Alan Barnes standing in for him. Numbers from the broad spectrum of mainstream jazz came in quick succession, interspersed with dry and sometimes deliberately corny humour mainly from Tad. The band were thrilling us from the very first tune, leaving the audience often breathless with the power of the up-tempo numbers and creating an almost contemplative ambiance on gentler tunes. After a rousing finale of “Lester Leaps In” the band left the stage to long and loud applause
