A delightful evening of smooth sophisticated jazz delivered with perfection and professionalism. Cate’s repertoire for the evening gave the audience plenty of opportunities to listen to different tunes, sung with her inimitable tone and harmonies and complimented by her handpicked selection of top class musicians
Every tune had a story or information about when the tune was recorded, some were familiar to us and others were totally new which made a very pleasant surprise. A selection of the stand out tunes for me were: Making All Your Dreams Come True, The Very Thought of You, I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate, Exactly Like You, I Get the Blues When It Rains which had great keyboard and guitar solos, Honey Hush with clarinet solo and keyboard, a rumba style version of Comes Love, Me Myself & I, Miss Brown To You which was first recorded by Billie Holiday, a feature by Trevor with rhythm guys of Just You, Just Me, We Laughed at Love and I’m Somebody’s Somebody Now.
A truly entertaining evening and I know that Cate was pleased to be able to perform this session for us. Top quality!
